About Lady Anne Funerals Untitled-3
Where every family is special

Lady Anne Funerals, established in 2006, was founded on the belief that every individual is unique, and therefore so too should be their celebration of life. At Lady Anne we have a respect for all faiths and cultures and pride ourselves on our continually evolving understanding of individual practices and beliefs.

Thus in 2006, with this focus on families, and realising the need for an all-female, all-Australian, independently-owned and operated funeral home within the wider Sydney community, Karen Laing entered the industry and Lady Anne Funerals commenced operations - a small independent funeral home with a firm focus on family, breaking away from the increasingly monopolised funeral industry.

Lady Anne Funerals is based in Gladesville, in the Lower North Shore of Sydney, where our single location can provide all the facilities and services essential for a funeral. Once in our care, families can be assured that their loved ones will be treated with respect and dignity.

Working in the industry since 1995, Karen has ensured a commitment to excellence in all aspects of the service we provide, arranging a personalised celebration for each individual whilst adhering to industry legal requirements. When choosing Lady Anne, you are choosing a complete service.

The only way to do great work is to love what you do! (1)
Time will pass; these moods will pass;
and I will eventually be myself again.

Funeral costs in NSW

To ensure transparency with pricing for funeral goods and services, and in accordance with the Fair Trading Regulation NSW Act, we have created a Funeral Information Pricing Disclosure.

Our funeral directors in Sydney are not just someone who arranges the details of a funeral, but someone who can help guide you through some of the other difficult aspects of losing a loved one, such as the legal documents and forms that are required. These can be stressful to organise when you are dealing with grief. Lady Anne funeral directors try to take a holistic approach to funeral services, to minimise the other stresses that can occur in what is a very difficult time, and make sure you have someone with you for every step of the way.

A funeral director can arrange transport of the deceased from home, hospital or nursing home to the funeral home or mortuary. A funeral director can also deal with repatriation - bringing loved ones home from overseas and the special legal forms required for this process.

A funeral director can also help with other legal forms, including those that require liaison with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages such as lodging a Death Registration Form or obtaining a Death Certificate for a solicitor or the family. They can also obtain Medical Certificates from hospitals or the treating doctors, and cremation certificates.

Other aspects of the funeral or funeral service that a Sydney funeral director can help with include:

  • Mortuary care: preparation and dressing of the deceased, and embalming (if wanted or necessary)
  • Finding a coffin or casket
  • Placement of press notices in newspapers or online
  • Liaising with clergy or funeral celebrant
  • Organising booking times with church, cemetery or crematorium or other venues
  • Coordinating floral arrangements
  • Compilation and printing of order of service or church booklets, hymn books, memorial cards etc
  • Booking musicians or choirs
  • Conducting the funeral service
  • Setting up live streams or limited broadcasts for those unable to attend
  • Organising the wake, including catering

It’s okay to contact a funeral director at any point in the process that you feel you might need help with. The earlier you make contact the greater the range of options available to you will be. Your funeral director in Sydney can be available to help you with any decisions, forms or bookings at every step in the process.

Experiencing the loss of a loved one is incredibly difficult. Dealing with grief can be tiring and overwhelming. To also have to think about the various administrative tasks that will come, such as planning a funeral, can be daunting. We have tried to design a funeral planning checklist in a way that it can be used after the passing of a loved one, but it could also be used in preparation for that process. Being familiar with the choices you might have to make and the processes involved can remove a small amount of the stress when the time comes, and can also be a tool to prompt an often difficult-to-have conversation with a friend or family member about what they want to happen.

Absolutely. Regardless of financial circumstances, everyone has the right to be honoured with a service that is both affordable, compassionate, and beautiful. We have been somewhat conditioned through movies about how a funeral should ‘be’, yet modern farewell ceremonies can be completely tailored to your unique preferences and resources. By gaining clarity on what would have been most important to your loved one and is in line with their religious and cultural beliefs and personal wishes, you can make decisions from a position of strength and be guided by what is right for your situation, without the pressure to do everything that is ‘expected’ or on offer.

Lady Anne Funerals is both a funeral home, and we have funeral directors.

A funeral home is a place that has the required facilities to care for the deceased following death.

A funeral director is a staff member who assists with the planning of the funeral and takes care of the details.

Our funeral home is located in Gladesville, Sydney - however, we can assist families in any part of Greater Sydney.

Our Success Stories

I am truly grateful for the help and support from Lady Anne Funerals. They made everything clear and took away all the uncertainties about what needed to be done.

A special thanks to Yvonne, who was the celebrant for our ceremony. The respect and honour she showed in delivering the eulogy were fantastic. Many attendees commented on how well she spoke about my wife Glenda, as if she had known her personally.

Yvonne, thank you. You were exactly the person we needed during this difficult time in my life.
